The Crossways Shops

A Memory of Heston.

Can anyone remember a film being made outside the Crossways Shops? Everyone had to stand in front of the shops and wait for cars to come along. We were told not to move or cheer or anything else. I remember standing outside the cake shop with my mum. I never did discover what that was all about.

Lucille Ball filmed Lucy Goes to London. Children from the Corona Stage School (Corona Kids) were there. Big upheaval for one take down The Crossways. I think it was either a Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday. Mr Fox opened Forbouys newsagent to sell ice cream! My Dad was up a ladder painting our house 132 next to the shops. The director wanted him to stop as it would be in shot. Father declined as he wanted to finish, so was left to do so!
