Hart Hill School 1954

A Memory of Luton.

I was born in 1949 and entered Hart Hill School in 1954.
Those were the times when 5 year olds were taken to school by their Mums for about one week into the new term! There were so many kiddies in the surrounding area of Abbotswood Road and Bloomfield Ave that nobody walked home alone!
I entered the class of Mrs. King and then into Miss.Bunting for my second year.
The Junior side of the school started with Miss Devine. (Boy, was she strict!)
Mr. Gordon, Mr. Dear and Mr. Watson followed.
The years in this school are a great memory. Nature walks along the back of the school, music lessons with Mr. Larkin and running around the amazing green field at the back of the school. It hosted the football and the school sports day. Miss. Henderson looked after the Netball.
Mr. Clarke was the headmaster and I remember having a reading test with my mates in his office, and being given the Daily Herald to read!!
Maybe there are some Lutonians out there who remember this great school!
Kay Blythe nee Hawkes.
