Early Years

A Memory of Thornton Heath.

I was born at Mayday in 1958, as were my 2 brothers. My mother trained there as a nurse.
We spent early years in Beechwood Avenue and I attended WInterborn.
The family migrated to Australia in 1965, currently I am writing a family history with over 100 years of associations to Thornton Heath.
When I last visited, TH felt like a different country to the one I grew up in

I too was born in 1958 and lived in beechwood avenue and my brother and I both went to Winterbourne school. I am sure I must know you. What a small world.
Amazing. We lived at number 43 until we migrated to Australia in 1965. Dad drank at the Brigstock Arms, and we played at the Rec round the corner. Interested to hear your experiences
I too was born in Mayday Hospital in 1954. My parents lived in Beachamp Road Upper Norwood, as did my Uncle Charles until 2008 and we used come back to see them. My own family moved away in 1955 but my mother often talked about the clock tower and the pond. Many years later, I met my wife Margaret who attended Llanfranc School and lived in Gonville Road until 1972. She was born in Brigstock Road Nursing Home in 1950. Does anyone know what happened to this?
