Memories of Thurlton
My father, Kenneth Sydney Mickleburgh used to cycle from Bungay to give piano lessons to pupils in Norton, perhaps some of them still live there.
I lived in Heckingham at the time he used to give me paino lessons every Tuesday lunch time; I went to Heckingham School. He played the organ at church as well, the lessons were 5 shillings for three quarters of hour. I remember he then got a moped and I remember him saying to my old chap the lessons would have to go up to 7 and 6 to pay for fuel. By the way I still can not play!
My grandad was a hairdresser in Hardley, he cut hair at his home. His name was Nicholls, anyone out there remember him?!
Red House Inn, Cantley
Heresay says my boat was built in the 1880s for the then-owner of the Red House at Cantley, and was called "Lama" or possibly "Llama". Does anyone have any information on owners/landlords, or boating pictures of that period?
Red House Inn
What a beautiful memories... what beautiful times. Times still in my brain. If anybody knows anything about Jimmy, Scott, Grand mum, or that fantastic girl who loves Viviane Westwood, please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org. Please.
Landlord of Redhouse 1958
I was master of small coaster loading molasses for London. The landlord was a Canadian army veteran who had a badly injured shoulder. He was sniped at by a German 88, quite a big gun, at Bergen op Zoom. Rumour also had it that the previous landlord's daughter was a member of the famous all female Ivy Benson's band. Does this jog any memories?
