Beloveded Ash
A Memory of Ash Vale.
I ALSO HAVE MANY MEMORIES OF ASH, MY MOTHER WAS A HARMSWORTH BEFORE MARRIAGE,AND MY UNCLE OWENED THE BOATHOUSE AT ASH VALE MY AUNTIE ALICE LIVED IN THE COTTAGE NEXT TO THE BOATHOUSE.I ALSO REMEMBER HEATHVALE BRIDGE AND THE SWAN HOTEL WHEN PEOPLE USED TO PULL IN FOR A DRINK.MY BROTHER ALSO WORKED FOR BILL BUGDEN AND I CAN REMEMBER GOING DOWN TO THE BAKERY AT SIX IN THE MORNING TO PURCHASE BREAD.IF MY MEMORY IS CORRECT THE BAKERS LIVED NEXT DOOR TO US IN 206 LONGACRE ESTATE. I CAN REMEMBER ONE YEAR WHEN THE FLASH WAS FROZEN MANY PEOPLE SKATING ON IT. I WONDER HOW MANY LOCALS CAN REMEMBER THE CANADIANS CAPMPED AT THE BOTTEM OF NO4 RANGE THEY USE TO GIV US SUGAR AND BREAD ALSO A MUG OF TEA.I THINK THE OLD TOILETBLOCK IS STILL THERE.
