Lost Friendship In Time
It was 12May1967 when I first received a beautiful letter from her. She was a high school student and I was student of 1st yr Engineering (Bengal Engineering College, Sibpore, Howrah, West Bengal, India). Her name was Miss Elizabeth Noton. She with her widow mother used to live at 13, West End, Baslow, Bakewell, Darbyshire, England . She lost her father when she was a child. Her mother raised her. She was the only child of her parents. She was simple, pious and relegious. I remember her favourite pastime was Bell Ringing in a nearby church. We used to write each other perhaps once in a month as it was very difficult for both of us to afford postal costs in those days. Yes, it was a snail mail friendship. She was not from a very rich family but her ambition was tall and rich.
After passing out from school she, wrote me on 14December1968, went to Fenham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for higher studies. She used to manage her monthly... Read more
Looking For Lost Friend
My memory having title "Lost Friendship In Time" was published on 25.01.08 that describes my friendship with Ms Elizabeth Noton who used to reside at 13, West End, Baslow, Bakewell, Darbyshire, England in 1967.
We were in touch with till 1973 but our contact snapped due to many obvious reasons. I'm now 61 yrs old and probably she will be 55 yrs old lady. This is our real friendship and memory is still in my heart. Great thing will happen in life if we can discover each other again after so many years.
I shall remain ever greatful if, anyone can give information about Ms. Elezabeth Noton. You are requested to contact me to my email ID : stanban08@gmail.com
Thanks for reading.
Two Dales
I lived in the house on the right (Hazel House) just before the bakery from 1958-1988. Many memories of there. Anyone with any memories of Two Dales, please don“t hesitate to contact.
Tax Farm, Two Dales
My parents and older sisters Margaret, Cynthia, Brenda and Christine lived at Tax Farm, Two Dales in the late 1930s - early 1940s - surname Taylor. They attended Darley Dale School and have very fond memories of being there.
Two Dales
Lived further down the road in the village, the semi-detached house on the left. The first was occupied by the Bowlers, newsagents, next door the Waterfall Bros. I helped at the farm to the right for a bit of pocket money. The farmer was Jim Topliss, his daughter, Jackie & husband Albert, son Mark. Many happy memories. The village is not the same now the farmyard is now houses, cars parked everywhere, we had the best I'm sure.
Bakewell & The Peak District
Still live in Bakewell, so if anyone wishes to know about the area, please let me know.
My Dad
My dad was born in Hackney, London in 1922. Named Arthur Lawrence Gibbs, son of William Arthur Gibbs. My grandad came to Australia in 1925 with my grandma and with 3 or 4 children pioneed a farm in Northcliffe in Western Australia. I myself have been to England but only once in my life(I was born in 1953). My son and my daughter have both visited the fair country and spent a lot of time there and have been to the old Hackney. I have not been there, and if anyone can help me with any memories or stories I would be forever grateful. Raymond John Gibbs. Your's in trust, take care.
