More about this scene

This beautiful village, once famous for its skilled bowmen, stands on the edge of Bowland Forest. The stump of the old 13th-century market cross dominates this scene. In the background is the church tower, unusual architecturally for this part of Britain. It is thought to have been influenced in style by King Henry VI during his stay in Bolton Hall. King Henry's Well (a circular stone building where he bathed) still stands, but the Hall was demolished in 1950.

Yew Tree Home
I lived with Mum, Dad and brother Richard here for around 10 years from 10 yrs to 20 yrs old. I went to Riversmead School in Grindleton. Some very happy times in this beautiful place are in my memory. It's great to find this photo on line. I live in Australia now but will eventually come for a memory visit.

My Mum's Hairdressing Salon
Right on the end of this barn, hidden from view was a small irregular building with it's own door. It had been a small butchers shop some time before my Mum and Dad bought it as a hairdressing salon for my mum to use as a little business. It had no heating, just two yellow sinks and chairs, a couple of work stations and a telephone table where the phone, appointment book and till sat. ...see more

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
