Roxy Theatre

A Memory of Bradford

I remember the Roxy Theatre well. I grew up in Mapperton Road just up from the Roxy. I attended Barkerend School leaving in 1959. We also used to let our mates in through the back door after one of us buying a ticket. They were great childhood memories. Another memory is the bonfires on Guy Fawkes night. My favourite pub was the Ring O Bells in Bolton Road, many happy memories with mates there. I emigrated to Australia in 1963. On a return visit many years later in 2007 I was surprised to find the Roxy was now a Mosque. My old Workplace Kellett Woodman in Bolton Road next to Barbers shop was no longer standing. But was happy to be able to have a pint again at the Ring O Bells
