My Boy Hood In Caen Street And The London Inn

A Memory of Braunton.

My father Pip Prior took over the London Inn in 1940 and we onlyleft in 1950 because my mum had breast cancer .During the war he also ran a factory making cycles for the war effort our next door neighbours were The Sellers Family originally from wales He was a shoe repairer .Negly Farson an Author American and lived in Putsborough was a customer one of dads friends was Bill Speare My brother John was bornin the Nursing home in 1943 run by Mrs Searle her husband was also a policeman in the village My mother taught at Heanton Punchardon School on the main road near the RAF Station it is know a house Miss Mock was the Head Mistress Caen Street School opposite the pub had Mr Ash as Headmaster My mates were the Bradley twins, and the son of Mr Tossill who ran the shoe Shop we went to Sunday School at the Congregational Church I came back andtrayed with Mrs Sellers in the 1960s Would love to get in touch with anybody from Braunton
