Wartime
A Memory of Cerne Abbas.
My cousin and I were sort of evacuated to Cerne abbas, staying with Mrs Hardy in the village shop, remember she had an oil cooker which would suddenly burst into flames, terrified the life out of me. We went to school, but for the life of me cannot remember any names, except for a girl called Brenda from Birmingham.
Mum and aunt would come now and again, due to the lack of buses, what was it one a week we sat on a crossbar into Dorchester for the pictures, neither of the mums were good cyclists. Mrs Hardy looked after some Electrical workers who kept the power lines going, Uncle Frank was great fun, managed to roll down Giant Hill, but the place was beauty unkown guess it still is, haven't been back for 70 years.
