Researching John Austin, Born 1916 in Chelmsford
Does anyone have any details about a John Austin, born in Chelmsford early in 1916 to a mother with the surname Gigney? My wife is trying to research her family history and as a Gigney believes this lady may have been a relation, making Mr Austin possibly a relative.
John Wells.

RE: RE: Researching John Austin, Born 1916 in Chelmsford
John's parents were one JOHN W. AUSTIN born about 1890, who married one MILDRED SARAH GIGNEY in APRIL-JUNE, 1912 at BILLERICAY, ESSEX. Her father was one JAMES GIGNEY, born October 15, 1853, who married one EMMA MOTT(born about 1863,) in OCT.-DEC., 1875 at CHELMSFORD, ESSEX. He later also married one SARAH MOTT after his first wife died. His father was one JAMES HENRY MAY GIGNEY(born 1810) who married one SUSSANAH SPARROW (born 1819,) in September 1849 at SURREY.
Now whether any of these are related to you, only you can tell. Should you wish to know any more, feel free to contact me. Email address can be found in comments, reference WOODFINE family. Sorry about previous posting, got it wrong, and forgot to correct it.

Hi there, If JAMES GIGNEY is related, then the 1901 census shows him as a SADDLER, IRONMONGER, and UPHOSTERER, whose business was in the HIGH STREET, WICKFORD, ESSEX. At that time they had 8 children, and living with them also was one SARAH MOTT, who is the wife's sister, who was born at EAST HANNINGFIELD, and was also employed as a book keeper. So this is who became his second wife. Mind you if he is not related it merely becomes an interesting tale.
