Cleethorpes Zoo

The Elephant c1965
Enlarge photo |  More about this photo

I believe the elephant in the picture was named Tanya. I have fond memories of the zoo as my father Dave Mosley moved us from Derby to Cleethorpes in 1965 as he was employed by the zoo to do some building work, we as kids used to get to pet the animals, my favourite memory must be of stroking Calypso the killer whale.

RE: RE: Cleethorpes Zoo

It is nice to see pictures of Cleethorpes zoo from when I was a child. I think the elephant seal was called Magog. I remember the circular lie down pad in the centre, surrounded by water in a circular pool. I recall the/a seal lying down and being so huge. If anyone has more pics or memories or names, facts/details, I'd love to hear them as I'm sure would others.
