I cant remember the name of the company, but I do remember my brother visiting there and bringing home large ball bearings!!

Fodens was the name of the Old Tram Shed before Waitrose was there. I remember the people I used to meet regularly.

Regarding the tram shed, I too remember it being run for the servicing of Foden lorries. I also recall digging out ball bearings from the surrounding ground which we then used for games of marbles. I lived in Cowplain from late 1959 until 1971.

I too remember the old tram shed at the top of Park Lane that became Fodens Garage. To the right of the garage car park was a huge air-raid shelter at the end of which was an air-raid siren on top of a tall pole. I'm sure I can remember being tested from time to time, does anyone remember this?
