Picnics

A Memory of Crewe.

In the early years of our married life, no such luxury as owning a car, our means of transport was a tandem with a seat on the back for the little one and a bike for the older one, most Sundays it was off out into the country, Beeston Castle being one of our favourite places, on one particular Sunday we set off, fully equipped for our usual picnic.
After a while we noticed that passing motorists were tooting and waving their arms, we took little or no notice, no such thing as road rage in those days, eventually one motorist stopped, got out of his car and said, Are you going on a picnic, Yes we replied, Well he said you had better go back and pick up all the food etc, oh dear there behind us was a trail of tins of fruit ,sandwiches, biscuits, and even a tin opener, we picked it all up, went on our way, had a good picnic and a good laugh as well, oh happy days
