My Forebears Lived On Bodden Farm
A Memory of Doulting.
My Stone family lived at Bodden Farm for hundreds of years up to around the 1860's. I have no idea what happened but they moved to another farm in the district around this time. I've always wondered why they left Bodden Farm. I've been to the farm and it's a picturesque location. I would have thought it to be a very productive dairy farm.
The family broke up and four of the children including my great-grandfather (Robert Phippen Stone) came to Australia around 1856 along with his brother, John, and two sisters, Betsy and Sarah Jane Phippen Stone. Thomas Stone and his wife Mary (nee Boyce) were the operators of the farm at this time.
