Best Childhood Ever

A Memory of Easington Colliery.

I was born in Easington Coliery in December 1940. Grew up in Canada In Dene Avenue. My dad worked At the pit as a wagonwayman in the Hutton Seam. Grandparents were from Cornwall Stret, East.I had a tha best childhood ever. Hawthorne Dene, Boaties Bay. The white steps at the railway to the Beach Banks , the viaduct, , Ariel flight , gorgeous scenery . Wonderful schools , great people, Seaside Lane, Timothy White and Taylor's Chemists( Mr.Brown) Dr.Porteos kind , caring Doctor , Mr Byrson (farmer) Potato Picking in October school holidays. The great Welfare Hall for Saturday Dancing. I live Thousands of miles away now. , but have made regular visits back there. No place like it on Earth. Also Petwel Lane , beautiful walk to the Village. I could go on and on , it will be with me forever.

Hello Joan Battiste. The numbers of people I come across from around your generation who have strong feelings towards their childhood upbringing at Easington Colliery is impressive. I am four and a half years older then you and feel much the same. I have an item on this site below yours. Is this you ?
