Edmonton Mid 60’s

A Memory of Edmonton.

Hi my name is Andrew Saunders and lived in Edmonton in the mid 60’s with my family. We moved into 36 Oakfield Gardens around 1962/3. It was a lovely house, a brand new 3 floor town house. We had moved from Noel Park Wood Green where I spent a few good early years of life. My school was Huxley Junior School which I enjoyed very much. It had a great sporting tradition especially in athletics and football which suited me. I believe, if my memory is correct, that I was known as “Woody”. From here I went to Latimer Grammar in Hazlebury Road. As kids we spent a lot of time in Pymms Park, a great place to play and have fun. I also remember Saturday morning picture’s and Mum & Dad sending me down to the market, in Lower Edmonton I believe, to get a bag of broken biscuits off one of the stalls. Always went to the Spurs with my dad when at home and watched them in the 1967 FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley. Also saw World Cup Final against Germany with my dad at Wembley. Fantastic memories from a fantastic time in my life.
