My Holiday In A Manor House

A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.

I went to fornethy residential school when I was five and nine years old and I was very happy thare I loved the long walks through the woods and walking down the stoney brae to the burn to paddle our feet and we had to pass a farm to get to the burn and everyone would hold their nose because of the smell. I remember in the classroom sending home a letter and drawings of what I had been up to.also I remember getting a letter and comics rolled up in a scroll could go on and on but that is for a later time .I am very sad to hear about the terrible time some girls had. I hope the people responsible will be punished. Nothing can change the fact that I had a wonderful time there- that's why I went back a second time. Yours, Donna Boyd - Donna Wilson at the time. It was in nineteen sixty eight and seventy two that I was there.

Anyone who thinks fornethy was a brilliant place needs their heads looked at either that or their related to the so called caring people who worked there and put girls through daily abuse
What they done caused lifelong harm and severely bad memories that will never go away
This was run like a concentration camp cant imagine any girl having a grt time i myself have ptsd since being here 1965 head teacher nasty just not good memories for me and my sister they shud all be named and shamed
Caroline i also feel your pain horrific memories of abuse inflicted on young girls
Exactly mazried so many inflicted by horrible abuse many who no longer stay in Scotland
Totally agree Caroline and married, maybe it was santa clause land in Aviemore she was at and got mixed up. Certainly wasn’t Fornethy. I was there in 73 and there was no mercy or kindness shown to anyone.
Still carrying the consequences of the physical and emotional abuse and brutality suffered at the hands of these monsters. Some still alive. They should be named and shamed.
