Torture

A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.

I was here with my sisters in the 1980s and I remember it as scary and horrible. There was 3 teachers i remember miss fletcher she worked in a wee tiny tiny shop with her wee white dog.miss lockie old women played piano in the play room and miss she was the worse horrible nasty made me eat sweetcorn I said I didn't like it was told eat now I was sick she made me spoon it up and eat it because I cried I got no sweets and was hit with a slipper about 5 times.staff sat outside our dormitory every night to make sure we didn't talk a wee blue light came on .the shutters on windows didn't close properly it was scary.we sang a song cant remember all of it something like on top of old smokie all covered in snow but can't remember the rest.i remember being took to a school class across the building the teacher was OK cant remember her name.we always had to wear wee flowery pinafores. We were bathed with another person 2 in each bath and about 6 girls waiting naked to get in after us and we had to put our underwear on a peg to be checked for marks.we got took up a mountain to wishing stones.theres loads I could go on and on it was a horrible place.i also remember being took across the grass to a gym and having to do exercises if I couldn't I would get no sweets.our parents sent letters and money we got to spend so much a day if you had a toilet accident we got none.our letters were read to make sure they knew what we were saying. We went on a wee minibus to church on a Sunday so many one week so many next so me and my sisters weren't always together .there was a nurse that did our heads for lice and she was rough I remember being told sit at piece and hair being tugged hard till I cried and the comb being pushed into my head.there was big hair dryers we sat under and sometimes they got 2 hot if we popped our heads out we were pushed back under its so horrible even writing this is like being there again.
