Old Man Bainbridge Of 1 Louisa Street, (South) Off Clowes Street, West Gorton

A Memory of Gorton.

Hello everyone

Help please!

Any memories and information would be appreciated

My Mum was born 1920, Pollitt Street, next to Louisa Street, she went to St Marks School, from about 1927

Her dad John Bainbridge, lived in 55 Clowes Street: not sure where this is located?

Then lived in Kay Street, off Clowes Street

Then moved to 1 Clowes Street

Finally lived in Pollitt Street

They owned a Firelighter business on the corner of 1 Louisa Street, which burnt down about 1930?
My Mum took me into Central Library, about 1960, and showed me a microfiche of the M.E.N.? of her as a young girl, sweeping up the following day. I have been unable to find the photo.

First he owned a Marine Store

Then a Metal Brokers yard?

They owned a Greengrocer shop

I know he paid for the burial of an employee and neighbours baby

He died in 1941, having lived to attend my Mums marriage

Thanks in anticipation

Warm regards
Frank Carman
