Red Lion

A Memory of Greenford.

I worked for the LBE at the Greenford Depot from 1971-2000 and i used to have my dinner in the Red Lion which was just up the road from the depot. One day they were making an advert for BP in the Petrol Station opposite the pub, when i went in for my meal Jimmy Nail was sitting there, (he was the main actor in the advert) apart from getting his autograph, we also had a chat. He was an extremely pleasant man, not full of himself like most stars are. I just read the pub had been pulled down for even more houses, shame on you LBE.

I don't know how this site works but i read an e-mail about some chap bringing refuse to Greenford depot but when i sign in and find my original message, i cannot see the reply. Anyway, i do remember the Golf Course and my dad worked at AEC as an engineer, the site is now an out of town shopping centre, well it was in the year 2000!
Interesting. I have lived in Kings Avenue all my life and also worked at the AEC. I also remember the Golf Course and still walk my dog there. I attended Stanhope Infants (Headmistress Miss Gosling), Secondary (Headmistress Miss Avery) and Seniors (Headmaster Mr Davis) and left in about 1961.
