Parndon Hall
My nan and grandad lived in the grounds of Parndon Hall. My grandad worked for the Arkwrights. An unexploded bomb landed near the cottage they rented. For a few weeks they were given rooms in the Hall. I spent a few days and nights in that grand Hall.

RE: RE: Parndon Hall
Hi, I would just like to tell that my mum and dad Sam Robinson and Gladis worked at the farm for the Arkwrights during the Second World War war and again when it was Fesden School. I was there from about 1961 to 1965. The school was run by a Mrs Kitty Cleare. My mum then looked after the boarders and my dad ran the transpart department. I have fond memories of the school and still remember some names such as Peggy Wade, Allison Priour, Yasmin, and Parfin, R Shenburn, and sister, Marilyn Haynes. I would like to here from anybody from the same years, thanks.

RE: RE: Parndon Hall
I remember Parndon Hall, I lived at the stables in the late 1950s, my mother Peggy Golding (formerly Law) operated a riding school from the stables for a while. I knew Mrs Clare and most of her children, I also worked as a stable boy for a Miss Stuart who had horses at the stables before we lived there, this could have been around 1955. We left Parndon Hall around 1960 as Mrs Clare needed the stable block for other purposes. My mother relocated to Kingsmoor with the riding school but it didn't work out very well there for her, all of her riding tack was stolen one night and she couldn't afford to buy more so the riding school was closed down. A message for Hugh Robinson, I worked with a Sam Robinson at Stoneshott Farm, Nazeing around the same time Sam was the farm manager, I knew two of his children, Peter and Valerie, would this be the same man? You could let me know by email (mplaw21@telus.net) Mike in British Columbia, Canada.
