Born in Lower Bedfords Road
I was born in Lower Bedfords Road and as a young child I can remember cattle coming down the road to go in one of the fields in Bedfords Park. My mum used to shoo them out of the garden with a tea towel. I played over there all the time as a child. My children also loved seeing the deer over there, as do my grandchildren now. Sadly my father passed away 3 years ago so I can no longer go to my family home in Lower Bedfords Road. But it was a lovely area to grow up in.

RE: RE: Born in Lower Bedfords Road
An old friend of mine, Graham Spraggins lived in a bugalow on Lower Bedfords Road - about half way down. We went to Chasecross School 1955-59. Wiggy, as he was nicknamed, had a brother called Paul, a bit younger than us. My dad, had a cafe behind the Old Manor - Bedfords. We used to play in the park and visit the musemn . I now live in Margate and only get to Romford every two to three years, less so as I get older- 68 now. Rise Park was nearby and another popular playground. I lived at 28 Prestwood Drive near Kingshill, and was the local butcher ..first at Kingstons, Rise Park Parade and later at Knights the Butchers, Boxmoor Road on the council estate..I knew everybody on the estate in those days. I think times have changed a lot since those happy days. The street I live in now, people are not so friendly, and too busy with their lives. Dave Ogilvie (Romford boy 1944-1965).
