More about this scene

A lot has happened in the space of just ten years since No H252584 (above) was taken. New street lighting has been installed, and although Caffyns are still here, there is a new Seeboard (electricity) showroom next door. Both businesses have now moved. Caffyns garage was demolished and replaced in the 1980s by a small parade of shops with offices above, whilst a business equipment supplier is currently based in the former electricity showrooms. The road heading off to the right leads to St Wilfrid`s Church, and not unsurprisingly is called Church Road.

By this time Seeboard have taken over the Uptons building but Caffyns still have their garage premises which finally became a furniture salesroom in about 1982. the one way system has still not been created (see H252069), the restaurant is still 'Haywards' and the bank is the National Provincial.
