More about this scene

This is Old Durrington windmill, photographed at a time when the site was used as a tea garden. Only two sails were on the mill at this time. The white tailpole was used to turn the body of the mill so that the sails pointed into the wind. It was built about 1720, and ceased work in 1897. The mill is now fully restored and opens to visitors on Sunday afternoons during the summer months.
