Blackhills Road Infant And Junior School Horden

A Memory of Horden.

My name is Carol my memories of Blackhills Road Infant and Junior School which me and all my family attended have me many childhood memories.I remember my first day in Infant School once your mother dropped you into the yard there was painted a big white line the teacher's told you not to cross it once in the yard it was like magic because nobody ever did.Teachers I remember Mrs Bennet,Mrs Oaks , /Atterby,Mrs Gibson,Miss Tarn,Mr Langin what a singer he was he inspired me to sing later in life I auditioned for T.V and Theatre.always remember a lad called Stephen Black used to ride round the yard on an imaginary motor bike .Lunch times when the Nanny blew the whistle you had to stand like a statue.I remember going shopping with my mother at Liptons and Walter Wilsons then into that little I've cream parlour near Wisons paper shop.Going to the cinema on Sunderland Road my father used to feel the films for Fairword . We would get some sweets at Waters Shop and then go to the Fish shop near by. HappyvDays
