Langdown Road Hythe
A Memory of Hythe.
Although I was born at 160 Langdown Road in 1956 (Peckham), my first memory is in 1961 when I first went to school. The neighbours I remember are the Knapp, McGill, Hosey, Black, West, Anzak, Flood, Dyer, Ham, Vaughan, Cooper, Broomfield, Smith and Cane.

Moved there I think 1975.
The hosey's lived opposite. The anszak next door.
Great memories of that place
Neighbours I recall were Thomas's who had a son Chris who was a friend. They lived tow doors from Anzak's and another Thomas family on the other side of Peckham's who had a son Bobby who was younger than me. I was also friendly with David Peckham until he went away to join the airforce after school I believe.
We moved in when the house was brand new and the road was not quite paved, Phil Peckham next door was the general foreman for the estate and built boats for a hobby. Most of the other neighbours worked for Esso. In between Anzak's and Thomas's was a family who received frequent visits from film star Peter Cushing.
Clause Anzak was a german POW who decided to stay in England after the war. He had been a tailor in Germany before the war.
That's all that comes to mind right now, but Langdown Rd. was great place to grow up
Just round the corner from 101 was a large expanse where I saw a Forest pony giving birth.
It was a great place to grow up and there were loads of kids to ramble around with. We moved on to live in Dibden Purlieu when I was 7 so that must have been around 1964/5.
I found some bits of history and would love to know more
