Lake Farm Cottage East Jarrow

A Memory of Jarrow.

My memories of a happy childhood: living in the farm house and the horses, goats, hens, geese, dogs that my father bred for the police, and the wonderful summers and freezing winters..and my dad self employed selling wood logs in winter, fish in summer, fresh from north shields quay, rags and woolens, around whitley bay, but it was all to come to an end when they made the new motorway in what would be straight through the house. 1960...progress, they said, our lives were changed. Wonderful memories - and the history of the house - it was built in 1841 - the Rooneys and Brennans before my family, and of course, little Nellie Halliday.
