Summer Holidays At Jaywick 1960 70
A Memory of Jaywick.
My grandparents owned a beachfront bungalow and every summer from the year I was born, 1960, to when they sold it in 1970, we spend summers there. Does anyone remember the trampoline compound, where you could also hire boats? It was on the beach virtually in front of our bungalow and run by husband and wife, Harold and Vi. I remember every morning walking to Dots with my grandad to buy rolls and a newspaper. My mum and dad used to go to the Moroccan (?) club and also we all used to go the bingo hall. I remember in those days you placed a small wooden counter over your number if it was called. Many happy memories of a once thriving seaside resort. Would love to know if anyone recognizes anything I have mentioned

I loved "Dot's", it was a "must do" when we first we arrived to seek and buy a kite or beach ball. So many happy memories of Jaywick, I drove there this year again as part of my annual visit to Brightlingsea, Clacton and Jaywick, so many happy memories, Despite the latter day bad press it will always be my favourite venue for a seaside day out. Memories too of early morning hot bread rolls from the bakery, my idea of heaven, and Claton pier too, not to be missed, real seaside fun.
