Army Life As A Child

I lived in Larkhill as a small child in the very late fifities. In those days you could walk to Stonehenge and there were no barriers to stop you going right up to the stones. In the local primary school most of the children were from army families. Army Training On Salisbury Plain

The military owns more than 150 square miles of Salisbury Plain and great chunks of it are closed to the public. I have seen part of this area and "enjoyed" the isolation of camping in bivouacs with my Territorial Army unit.
