Growing Up In Little Kingshill
A Memory of Little Kingshill.
I spent a couple of years at the village school; I remember Mrs Dean and Miss Lovegrove in particular, Disliked Mrs Buswell who forced me to wear girl's navy blue knickers for the rest of a school day after wetting myself - I also had to carry my damp shorts and pants in a paper bag!. In 1969/70 or thereabouts my dad's car was shunted from behind and demolished the wall at the front gates of the school...I recall some twisted sense of pride the next day, standing next to the pile of bricks. We lived in Wildfell at the junction of Windsor Lane and Watchet Lane; my parents bought the house in some state of disrepair for £2000 - there are now two houses on the plot and both are valued at £1.3m+
Loads of memories of village fetes featuring piano-smashing contests between the patrons of the Prince of Wales and the Full Moon pubs.
