Clwyd Sanatorium
My grandmother's father had TB and there are letters from him to my grandmother from Clwyd Sanatorium Llan Bedr Hall, Ruthin, North Wales. I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this place or had any photos. Sadly he returned home and died between 1916 - 1918.
Happy Holidys
1942-1955 - my very happy annual holiday from London with my Nain & Taid (Hannah & John Roberts) at Dystell House in Llanwrog. We used to carry water from the" pistyll" at the top of the field and where Captain their horse grazed. Prior to moving to Dystell House they farmed at "Galchog", my Uncle Dafydd and Auntie Liza took it over afterwards. My cousins, Albert and Henry, used to take me for milkshakes at the "Milk Bar" in the square and my Uncle Ted (their father) would take me to the cattle market which used to fascinate me coming from a "city". Happy memories! Nain moved eventually to 27 Borthyn, where we still went for our holidays. I can remember "Hafod" Dairies and the lovely Flower Shows, and Tom Edwards who was a postman and friendly with my Auntie Dinah. Shoemaker, Well Street, Ruthin
Anybody have any information on my third great grandfather and grandmother Thomas Davies born in Llanbedr abt 1832 and Mary Davies born abt 1837 in Upton, Liverpool He was a shoemaker in Well Street, Ruthin. They had a son and a daughter Mary Jane, and Robert Owen Davies. Mary Jane is my second great grandmother. I know Thomas' father was Hugh Davies and Jane Davies from Llanbedr. I have no idea how Mary Davies (nee Jones) came to live in Ruthin and marry Thomas, and all I know is that she stated on census that she was born in Upton, Liverpool. I don't know what happened to Mary Jane's brother Robert Owen Davies born 7th December 1868 either, he was on the census 1901 aged 32 and living with my widowed 3rd great grandmother at 7 Llanrhydd Street. Would love to have info as to what happened to Robert, and any info on Mary Davies.
Village Life
My first visit to the village of Llanferres was in the mid 1970s visiting relatives. Walking to 'Fairy Glen' and surrounding fields, hills, woods and farmland, I was in heaven and still am after 30+ years living in the beautiful little village with its pub 'The Druid Inn', perfect to sit out with a drink and take in the view or sample their excelent food.
Not too far are 'The Miners Arms', Maeshafon, 'Loggerheads' pub and park, and 'The Colomendy' pub at Cadole.
The memory of 1950s is a DVD taken from a cine camera in the early 1950s including a few carnivals, the 50 minute film is in colour but silent including views and many local people, some working on the construction of the Village Hall.
The church is worth a visit and has not changed in all these years except a few more residents.

Llanynys/Llanrhaiadr?
I only found out today that my Grt:Grt:Grandfather,Owen Lloyd, lived in one or indeed both of these places. The house was called Ty-mawr. (The Big House). Does anyone have any information about these places? My Grt: Grt: Grandfather I believe was born in 1793 in Llanrhaiadr. Are any more of his descendants out there please?
Colomendy Camp School
I attended Colomendy School for about two years, coming from the City of Liverpool. I was fascinated with all the open spaces and especially the mountain - Moel Fammu. I can remember having great times there: walking into Mold Village and day trips out, climbing the Catwalk, visiting the camp cinema, the tuck shop.
Then in 1949 I had to return to Tiber Street School for my leaving. I am now 71 but will never forget my time spent at Loggerheads. The local people were always very kind to us.
