Once this was the most important village of many locally; today it has itself been surrounded by the growing town of Widnes. The cottage pictured here has now gone, to be replaced by a brick house which was only built in 2001.

I am born and bred In Farnworth, I lived at the old Toll house on Bradford Road, near Townleys as he used to be called. I remember going to Farnworth market and when the wakes used to come and set up near the market . Also remember Tognerelles on Market Street. Used to get lovely dandelion and burdock drinks. Many happy days. But it's all changed now and for the worse I think like may towns have
