Children In Godington

A Memory of Godington.

The first memory I have of Godington (circa 1970) is walking down to Grange Farm which was then owned by Ann and Norman Tew, and getting fresh milk. This lovely family were good friends to my then divorced Mum . Brother Mark and I became fixtures at their Farm and played daily with Ian, Debbie and Frances, their children tromping around the Farm with the border collie "Baxter", trying to make perfume from daisies!! mucking up the hay bales in the barns, terrorizing the poor "Fresian" (I believe) cows. Oh the things we got up to. There was another mate too named Claire Siddall, her mum, Christine, had an Old English Sheepdog named "dougal". We lived next door to Claire, I remember that's where I got my first "cindy doll" from. There were other characters also. Now this is very sketchy...past Grange Farm lived two men (one of who reminded me of one of the band members in the band The Holly's) I believe their names were Ray and Jay.....now remember I was only 6 or 7 at this time...They were very interesting and very GROOVY or MOD.....We had a man in a van that came by to sell groceries and Claire and I were mad for CURLY WURLYS at that time. I went back to Godington in the late 80's and the Tew family was still there and had my cousin and I in for Tea. They have since sold up and now there are holiday cottages at the Farm....which look lovely....After leaving Godington we moved to Fringford and lived in a cottage owned by Norman Tew's Dad "grandpa Tew" and his wife.....shortly after that we moved to Mixbury and then Steeple Aston and then off to New Hampshire in the USA....Now I am in Florida...a lot older but grateful for all the memories of the UK and especially grateful for the lovely people who's paths crossed with mine in the past.

In hopes that Ian, Frances, Debbie or Claire read this someday....would love to get in touch
