A Memory of Great Bookham.

It's only roughly 1955 because we lived there from 1944 and moved to Little Bookham but I always remember Mum used to go to, as she would say, Absolems, which I remember well. I knew St Nicholas church then, we always went to church. I had friends down the Lower Road where we lived. I went to St Nicholas School. Would you know Gillian Lee or Gillian Longhurst? It would be good to get in touch.

I lived in Gt.Bookham in the 1930s. My father had a Newsagent & Tobacconists shop on the Leatherhead Road, which he built. His parents built a retirement bungalow called Rue Vue on the opposite side of the road. My mother's mother lived in Hop Garden Cottage on the Lower Road, which she inherited from her parents. I would like to contact someone who could help me flesh up my family history with photographs of places I remember.
I am looking for anyone who knew the SIMMS family of east street, great bookham. I am especially interested in local bakers in the area also.
