Old Thorne
A Memory of Thorne.
In 1851 my Grandfather had a sixty acre farm at 109 Finkle Street in Thorne. His name was also Richard and his wife's name was Harriet. Is there anyone in Thorne that could share any information with me about the Watson family in Thorne.
The earliest Watson I have found in Thorne in my family line was John Watson, born about 1740, and married Ann Glew about 1770 in Thorne.

Have only just found your request. I am a direct Watson descendant who lives in Australia. My ggrandfather, Kirby Watson, arrived in Aust in 1884. Kirby's father is Samuel Watson born abt 1827 in Thorne and his mother is Elizabeth Kirby born abt 1827 in Thorne also. I would be interested in any info you can give me on the Watson's in Yorkshire especially from. I am happy to share any info I have on the Watson's in Australia. I think I have my ancestoral line correct but if you think it is wrong, please let me know. Kirby Watson born 1858 (married Mary Ann Harvey), Samuel Watson born 1827 (married Elizabeth Kirby), William Watson born 1800 (married Sarah Rhodes), John Watson born 1765 (married Sarah Parrott), John Watson born 1740 (married Ann Glew) and John Watson born abt 1710. All born in Thorne.
