More about this scene

Richard Tempest, lord of the manor, was probably advised by King Henry VI about this beautiful church in Perpendicular style when he was sheltering the royal visitor in 1500. There are interesting church records. The dog whipper was paid 6 shillings until 1840 to keep dogs out of the church. Rush bearing continued into the 19th century. The parish chest containing Poor Law accounts turned up at The Sun Inn, and its contents were sent to Lancashire Record Office - unfortunately, the chest was lost. Waddington choir had annual wagonette outings, when their driver always wore a top hat.
