More about this scene

This row of shops with their protective glass awnings was built in the grounds of Cleveley Lodge (the building at the far left end of the row) in the 1930s. The front of Cleveley Lodge was also extended at the time to accommodate the post office and a chemist's shop. The buildings stand beneath the Birkenhead Road where it spans the railway line near Meols Station. The canopies and shops are still there, but all have changed: a kitchen company, a Chinese restaurant and a mini-supermarket now trade from the site.
