J.R.Alexander 1943
A Memory of Mobberley.
I was sent to the school for stealing sweet coupons and was in Red house number 22 a number which seems to have followed me throughout my life ,I am now 83 years old but can still remember lots about the school J R Alexander was the headmaster a small man but could certainly put power into the canes (the buzzers ) Mr Harding was deputy head a large man and the teacher in charge of gardening was Mr Wardle ,we all had our own plots shared with another boy, we had to scrub the stone stares of the dormitories and I can remember when VE day came and we pulled down the stone walls protecting the windows I still have the scar on my finger where a brick caught it
I went there a skinny unhealthy boy of 12 from Liverpool and went home a lot healthier than I had ever been I was so unsettled when I went home I got on my bike and went back and had a job at the pottery at the bottom of the hill
Lots more I could say but I think that is enough

My Great Grandad went to Mobberley in 1939, as I have found him there on the census.
Would you be able to tell me any more about your time there?
His name was John (Jack) Teasdale, but he had left by the time he was old enough for war.
Much appreciated,
Lydia Rabbetts
