More about this scene

There is a pleasing lack of uniformity about the facades and rooflines of the buildings in the High Street, some of which are small cottages, and others grand town houses. In the 17th century the building that is now The White Hart Royal was a manor house, and Charles I stayed there in July 1644 after the Battle of Marston Moor. He probably was not in the best of spirits, as his army had just lost 4,000 men and had another 1,500 captured.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

my aunt and uncle Harry and Marjorie had the shop Strong bros, we would visit them in school hols, help with the cricket teas. strange the shop now sells fossels. I remember taylor sitting crossed legged on the floor.
I paid a visit here one rainy day in August 2012. A quaint little town where nothing much has changed apart from the motor vehicles.
