Nefyn Beach

A Memory of Nefyn.

The beach cafe shown in the photo entitled 'the anchorage' was owned and run by my aunts, the Misses Miriam and Evelyn Wales, whose father moved to Morfa Nefyn in the late 1800s to take charge of the cable station linked to Ireland. Also my brother was born in the cottage which is sideways on to the sea. Apart from the ghastly sea wall and breakwater nothing has greatly changed.

I think it was 1964 when we holidayed for two weeks in nefyn. We went with my mum and dad's best friends. We rented a big house with garden. There were 12 of us so we needed a big house. We also rented two beach huts. As I recall the house was at the end of a small road off the main street. It was just past a small church which also doubled as a cinema on fridays. Happy times
