On the right, the warm, brown fletton brick tower of Sir Giles Scott's Roman Catholic church of Our Lady of the Assumption soars above the surrounding buildings lining the broad street. Built in 1914, it mirrors the outline which Scott used again when designing the central tower of Liverpool Cathedral.
