Childhood Of Norton Canes.

A Memory of Norton Canes.

i was born in Hednesford Road, followed by my sisters in 1958 and 1960. We enjoyed a fantastic childhood - we lived in a three up, three down, with an outside toilet and a tin bath. I remember our toilet freezing over in the winter and walking to school with snow up to our thighs in our wellygogs.
Our Auntie Mary lived in School Road, and our Auntie Doll (Barratt) lived down the road in Railway Street before she moved to High Street.
We all attended the Norton Canes County primary school, followed by the junior school and i went into the senior school and my last year of school was at the brand-new high school up Burntwood Road.
We moved into Cherry Tree Road when i was 15, and I got married from there when i was 18. (On my 18th birthday.)
Our little family moved to School Road, and then into Braemar Road, where we stayed until 2003, when me and hubby moved to Blackpool, where we have been ever since.
We had a brilliant childhood, no worries or concerns, had to be home before it got dark, cos if you had to be shouted to come in, mom wouldnt be very happy.
was Brenda Griffiths.
