Passfield Common.

A Memory of Passfield.

This photo shows the common looking southeast towards Liphook. The common was a favourite haunt for Canadian troops and local girls during WW2. Spent many hours gathering bracken for bedding for my rabbits, and roaming across it's expanse of gorse, bracken and birch trees with the odd larger oak. As one of the few long straight stretches of road in the area there have been numerous accidents over the years due to speeding. Local inhabitants of note were Lord Passfield (Sidney Webb and his wife Beatrice,) prominent Socialist activists of the early 20th century.
