Church Street, at the end of this my parent's shop, home until dad decided to retire to Badby. Next door the Roman Catholic church. Anyone else remember the processions down Church Street when it was Remembrance Sunday or the Church Fete with Rose Queen on the trailer surrounded by attendants. Running for the bus along there too, especially... [more]

She met my grandfather, James Hudson McKellow, who was a New Zealand soldier in the First World War in London where she was working as housekeeper to Prince Bibisco (Bibesco). They... [more]

Iremember when Ry and Tania took over the Roma and we had the Maltsters at Badby.

I remember walking up to the big doors on my Fathers` arm and feeling so happy. There were loads of friends and other people on... [more]

The Morris car depicted in the photograph was overhauled and bodied by my late father, Arthur Parker, in 1951-2. He had removed the body from a c1937 Morris 8 van, overhauled the mechanics and the chassis, and built from scratch a new shooting brake style body. As a 7-year old I was thrilled to be able to help with... [more]

A little uphill from view R352015, The New Inn is set at an angle to the A5 Watling Street and has a 1740 middle with late Victorian wings. It has since been renamed The Heart of England. The old sheet metal and wire workers workshop is now the Chinese take-away, Weedon House.

The New Inn, sporting its new Watney's Red Barrel sign by the door and the sign board with the house style lettering, stands up the hill in Road Weedon on the old London to Holyhead turnpike. The inn is now called the Heart of England, and actually stands in the parish of Dodford. The boundary runs along the A45 and veers left by the Lawn Works to meet the A5, Watling Street.

This village is on Watling Street at the junction with the Northampton to Warwick Road. The older village, Lower Weedon, is to the south-west of Watling Street. This view is of the pub, incorporating a lodge. Much enlarged, it still thrives.
