Jubilee Grove Memories
I have very fond memories of staying with my grandparents Norman and Ivy Ralphs in 15 Jubilee Grove in the late 1970s and 1980s. My mother, my older sister and myself would visit in the school holidays and because we used to stay for a few days at a time, it was like a second home. Number 15 was on a corner and had a very large garden which included a fish pond and terrapin enclosure! Tommy the terrapin lived to be about fifty, I should think. Grandad had a workshop where he used to make clock cases, furniture and all sorts of thing with wood. Sadly, this was burned down in the late 1980s or early 1990s by arsonists. Fun Times
i have fond memories of sleaford staying with my grand parents on st giles avenue , going to the wreck to play going swimming and best of all going to the market to see all the live stock .My dad would tell is all what he got up too as a child where he lived as a boy,jubilee road i think (ken gash). i have an old photo of my great grandad out side a public house in sleaford would love to know where about it is or if its still there
Sleaford in The 50`s.
I was a member of staff at Rauceby Hospital 1951 - 56 and have many memories of Sleaford at that time.
I was a member of the Sleaford weight lifting club which had a work - out room on the first floor of a building in the market square near the traffic lights.
I remember Gerry Cotterill who was tragically killed in a car accident.
I remember Frank Lakey who was the dental technician to Mr . McArthy whose son was a film actor Neil McArthy.
I remember the Newton brothers Jackie. Zed & Geoff.
I remember Pete Turner whose family owned a bakery in Town.
I remember Sir Joseph Godber being returned to parliament by beating Woodrow Wyatt and the announcement in Sleaford ,Market Place.

Lincolnshire memories
School in Ruskington
I went to infant and junior schools here, Mr Handwell was head, Mr Jones assistant. From infant school at one end of beck two of us fetched the milk crate for our class from junior school. In winter it was always frozen, birds pushed off the foil caps and pecked at the frozen milk! I was friends with Janet Futter, Linda Veal, Gillian Smith. Glorious days! My family lived at Temple Bruer so we had a bus journey into Ruskington.
Snowman
It was either 1990 or 1991. The snow was deep and it was not worth the risk of travelling to college. Or was I skiving? So I spent the day building a snowman with some friends up on the grass over looking the Social Club. The next day we were bored and there was even more snow. So we decided to build the snowman even bigger. It was that big we had to put foot holes in the body so we could climb up it to build the head. Somone phoned the local paper to say it must be the biggest SNOWMAN in Lincolnshire. The following week a photo and write up was put in the paper to say just that. After all the snow melted, there was our snowman still standing and watching over the Social Club.
Williamson Family
My father was John Henry Williamson known as Harry. He lived with his father John William Williamson and mother Ada Florence nee Rylatt. My mother Florence Thorpe Catton was from Yorkshire and met Dad at Metheringham Feast.
The family lived in Burton Pedwardine at the time of my parents marriage in 1933 and Harry and Florence went to live with John and Ada Williamson for the first few years. They had three children while living there. John, Mary and Joan.
My father and Grandfather were Agricultural Labourers. Dad and Mum moved to Fishtoft Boston about 1937.
I have not been able to find out anymore about their time in Burton Pedwardine so would be interested in reading any memories at all that relate to that era.
Found The Web Page
Found the web page and references to Jubilee Grove. I adopted "Kenn Gash" because I was a reporter on the Sleaford Standard and my name was wrongly spelled on a By-line. I liked the balance and it stuck! Memories included Police Sergeant Enderby, The Choir of St Denys, Army Cadet Force, St Johns Ambulance, and many friends. Now aged seventy two years and still remembering it all better than I can remember yesterday.
