Sonning Mill

A Memory of Sonning.

Hello Chris, sadly we had moved from Sonning before your grandfather arrived. Our cottage was tied to my father's work so when he was transferred to Sindlesham we ended up in another tied cottage. I have such fond memories of Sonning and believe it is the loveliest place.

Thanks for reply not sure which year in the1960s my grandad started working at sonning mill but before coming there he had been at the Abbey mill in Reading working there from the late 1940 s and most of the 1950s the family lived close by in Abbey square I believe both the mill and the houses in Abbey square were demolished in the early 1960s and that's when he must of moved over to sonning yes I remember it being a great place to visit sadly we did not go to often as we lived in the Midlands but I remember having some weeks in the school holidays down there with my grandparents going down to the village walking along the lock and the river Thames and playing in the long garden at mill farm cottage great days.

Best regards
Chris
