Saint Mellons And Trowbridge.

A Memory of St Mellons.

I moved to trowbridge when i was 5 and now am 55 and living in rumney. My childhood memories are of fields and lanes now gone forever. I remember standing outside the dairy that was on greenway road just past hendre road and looking down over vast fields and flats that are now saint mellons. there were no houses , just cows and fields and trees. I also was always down the lanes that ran off trowbridge road. Reece marshalls farm was just over the railway bridge (he sadly hung himself in his barn) and opposite his farm was the remains of two grand houses built identical by two brothers. we played in the gardens of the remains and also fished for stickle backs in the reens that were so clear and running but now are sadley overgrown and unkept and the lanes are shut with industrial units all around. I didn't have the best childhood, or did I ? ;)
