Searching For 1950s Neighbours
A Memory of Steventon.
Hello there,
My stepfather has asked me to search for three people that he knew in the 1950s and early '60s in Steventon.
My stepfather is Robert Orchard from Pembrokeshire, Wales. He worked for the electricity board and lived in the village during the '50s.
The people he would like to find are George Ballard, Peter Broad, and Robert Baxter. Robert Baxter's wife was related to the owners of the North Star public house.
If anyone can help with this search, it would be much appreciated. Thank you... :)

Thank you for your message. I've sent you a private message.

My name is Caroline Green, daughter of Muriel Green, and Mum has asked me to reply to you as my Nan and Grandad were Robert and Gwen Baxter (Mum's parents). Sadly, both of my grandparents have passed away. My Grandad (Robert) passed away in 2000 (unbelievable as it seems like yesterday that we lost our 'amazing and funny Grampy' and our very lovely special Nan passed away 3 years ago....My Mum and Aunty would like to pass on their thanks and best wishes to Robert and they hope he is well.
My Mum and Aunty (Ann Mainstone) still live in Steventon.
If Robert would like any messages passed onto my family then I will be happy to do so and sorry that my reply wasn't better news for Robert.
Kind regards
Caroline
Thank you for your comment.
I passed your lovely message on to Robert and he showed me a letter from Bob, dated 1963. This method of contact is probably too public for me to share with you here. But if you want to contact me by email, I can email you the letter. (amandajsharp@outlook.com)
There isn't anything hugely important in the letter, but Robert would like your Mum and Aunty to have a copy. He remembers them very well, though they were school children back then.
He sends all his good wishes and he was very sad to hear that Bob and Gwen had passed away.
With Kind Regards.
Amanda
