Barry Burgess At Robin Hood House

A Memory of Styal.

I was at styal at robin hood house around about 1959/60 ish .I was about 8 or 9 years old from hulme manchester .sorry I can't remember any names but remember going to school there .the teacher I most remember was a man with a false leg and walked with a limp you could here him coming !he ran the art and pottery classes .we would make all sorts of things and then put them in kiln oven. remember skates and three wheeler bikes Sundays having bacon and dripping butties I can still taste em! Then off to church down the lane in crocodile fashion .then wait for parents to visit with sweets n gifts in my case I waited n waited...my parents could come only once a month times were hard .remember the farm next door with shirehorse and the smell of country air?.I went there because I wouldn't eat I think they have other words for it now ! Everybody were really nice can,t say I enjoyed it though but looking back that's how it was them days .....remember police bringing boys back who had ...escaped...

The teacher was Mr Kingsley. I loved Styal Homes. You must have been in robin hood with Tony Almond and Alan Barry. Stephen Elphick and William Croston. Regardsxx
my mum Beryl Wild attended from 1957 onwards..she was in the snow white dorm regards Tracy
